The Super Sweet Blogging Award

I was recently pleasantly surprised to find that the talented and prolific Movies, Silently had very sweetly presented me with the Super Sweet Blogging Award. Thanks very much! I LOVE these 🙂

(super) Sweet blogging award

The rules:
1. Thank the Super Sweet Blogger that nominated you.
2. Answer 5 Super Sweet questions.
3. Include the Super Sweet Blogging Award in your blog post.
4. Nominate a baker’s dozen (13) other deserving bloggers.
5. Notify your Super Sweet nominees on their blogs.

The questions:
1. Cookies or cake?
Wow, this is a tough one. I think cake because gluten-free cake is usually better than GF cookies. (I don’t have celiac or anything, I just feel better when I eat less gluten.)

2. Chocolate or vanilla?
Chocolate. Vanilla is good too, then strawberry or raspberry. We are talking about ice cream, right…?

These can be had for a very reasonable $10 for 6 batches at your friendly neighborhood Costco

3. Favorite sweet treat?
If I have a sweet tooth, just about anything with chocolate in it will do. But my all-time favorite is Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate brownies. Yes, from a box. Like Movies, Silently, if I have some time, I make flourless chocolate cake. This recipe from Nigella Lawson is pretty good.

4. When do you crave sweet things the most?
I guess after I’ve eaten something really spicy. That said, it doesn’t happen that often. My real problem is anything fried and/or salty. Potato chips and french fries are my biggest diet problem.

5. Sweet nickname?
Not especially…my family called me Jitterbug as a child because I couldn’t sit still. I’m a lousy dancer though.

I understand that these awards aren’t everyone’s cup of tea and that everyone is busy, so if you would prefer to answer the question in the comments below, or not answer at all…that’s fine by me, I’ll still think you’re sweet. Also, to keep the award moving, I tried to pick people who to my knowledge have not yet received a Super-Sweet (with one exception, bwahahaha). The graphic is by me, feel free to use or not.

All this talk about sweets is making me crave the raspberry tart I have in my lunchbox. Oh God, I need to go get it. Right now!

    1. Thanks Vanessa, and thanks for stopping by! That certainly is a by-product of this type of post. I am actually thinking of baking brownies.

  3. How sweet! My answers:
    1. Cookies

    3. My mother’s lemon meringue pie.
    4. I crave sweets at exactly 3pm.
    5. Never had a nickname! for whatever reason, any nicknames given me never “stuck”…! Well, my grandaddy did call me Snickerbritches, but he was the ONLY one who could get away with that!
Thanks for the award, Paula! Hugs, Kay

  4. Congrats Paula, you shouldn’t be surprised that you got an award, doll, you ARE awesome AND sweet 😀 THANKS so much for thinking of me. An award on Monday morning certainly helps me get through the day 😀

If you don’t mind, I’ll just post my answers here:
Cookies or cake? Cookies! [in fact I’m having one now as I’m typing this]
    Chocolate or Vanilla? Vanilla
Favorite sweet treat? Recently I’ve been obsessed with Elephant Ear pastry at my local Barnes & Noble. LOVE those!
When do you crave sweet things the most? When I’m drinking tea or coffee
Sweet nickname? Well, when I was younger my family calls me ‘Nonik’ but a lot of young girls are called that where I came from 😀

Thanks again for the sweet award!

      1. Oh yeah, exactly! It might’ve had some Dutch roots as my late mom and grandma both spoke Dutch. I know a lot of my cousins were called Nonik also.

        1. I always find words and their origins so interesting, that seems awfully close to “niña,” Spanish for “girl.” Thanks for the etymology 🙂

          1. Indeed it is! Btw, loving your blog banner, esp. with Karl Urban in the center 😉 Stay tuned for tomorrow’s Five For The Fifth featuring his upcoming new TV show!

            1. Oh thank you! All of the actors in the banner share the sun sign Gemini, which I thought was interesting. I look forward to the post and the show…I really like him 🙂

            2. Ah I see, I didn’t know that, but then again I never pay attention to zodiac. I LOVE Karl Urban, I’m glad you like him too! The idea of seeing him every week on TV makes me VERY happy, hope it won’t get canceled prematurely!

  5. Thank you for the kind nomination. a “sweet” reward!

    Let’s see:

    1) I really like cake. Carrot Cake. or Chocolate cake…cold! or Italian Creme cake. mmmhmmm! er&T%^#*oja!# (sorry, my drool ruined my keyboard temporarily)
    2) Chocolate everything. cake, cookies, flavored coffee! yum. I shoulda been born in Hershey, PA.
    3) Fave sweet treat is those ferrero rocher truffles. yum!
    4) I crave sweet things when I am trying to avoid them (i.e. a strict diet, after a workout, after the dentist, etc!)
    5) My sweet nickname? well, people call me “T” and I usually respond when I hear someone around me asking for “Sweet Tea.” haha

Thanks again for this fun award. I love it.

    1. Maybe I should have been born in Hershey too. Your answer to #4 is the reason I don’t follow diets anymore 😉 You’re welcome and thank YOU, T.

  6. Hi, Paula:

    Congratulations!

Can’t think of a sweeter recipient.

#1/Cookies. Home made Chocolate Chip Cookies with a glass of cold milk.

Since cakes have to be dressed and iced properly. And everyone knows that cake is a subtle delivery system for delicious icing!

#2/Chocolate. Don’t get the urge often, but when it hits. Nothing else works. Maybe Key Lime Pie in a pinch.

#3/ Betty Crocker Fudge Brownies mix. With the Hershey’s Syrup pack included. Usually add some Nestle’s Semi-Sweet Morsels and Hershey’s Syrup on top before baking. I call them “Death by Chocolate” Brownies.

#4/ There is no internal clock. It just creeps up suddenly and hits. Like the sudden urge for pizza or Dunkin’ Donuts.

#5/ Never had a nickname as a child or an adult.

    1. Aw…thank you 🙂 Ha, I agree about cake as a delivery system for icing. Most icing is too sweet for me, I scoop it off and give it to my hubby. You ought to give the Ghirardelli brownies a shot Jack…they have all that already in there. Cool answers…thanks!
